Established in 1979, Matra Seafoods is a
cornerstone of the Sydney seafood industry.
Our story began in 1976 when Con and Fotoulla moved to Sydney, Australia, seeking refuge from their homeland of Cyprus. Con started working at the Sydney Fish Markets in 1977. After gaining valuable experience at various locations, they opened their first store in Maroubra in 1979.
Reputation for Quality and Innovation
Over the years, the family expanded both in numbers and in business. Their four sons—Barry, Leon, Harry, and Nicholas—joined the family enterprise at various stages, each bringing their talents and energy. This family collaboration led to the reopening of their Eastgardens store and a new venture in Bondi Junction, solidifying Matra Seafoods’ reputation for quality and innovation.
With a focus on delivering the freshest seafood, Matra Seafoods has undergone major renovations to enhance customer experience. Maroubra and Eastgardens stores have both expanded and introduced new offerings. Despite growth, our heart remains in serving the local community with dedication and pride
